Daily UX Challenge

Overviews

As a UI/UX Designer, I like to test the usabilities of the websites and apps I use pretty often if it is confusing, I challenge myself on how I can improve the user experience.

#1 DOTA2 Finding Match System

Dota 2 is a multiplayer online battle arena video game,  when you found a  match you need to click accept button to join the game.

The Problem

Australian server's average queue time is 5 minutes, nighttime even longer. during this time players like to be away from the keyboard (AFK) they maybe went to pick up a food delivery, maybe went to the toilet or some other things that keep them AFK. if they don't come back on time and accept the game they will be punished.

Suggestion & Solution

There's a way to improve the experience, players can accept the game on mobile devices. Doesn't matter where they are, as long as they have a mobile device with them.

DOTA Pro Circuit could be the potential platform to solve this problem by adding this feature.

#2 Gmail Filter

Gmail is very popular, as of 2019, it had 1.5 billion active users worldwide.

The Problem

Do you know where is the filter for Gmail? I believe most of us don't know. because I did a test, asking around 20 of my friends to show me the "Unread email" only 3 of them can show me the unread. You can find the filter feature by clicking the drop icon next to the little box. However, in my opinion, this can be improved.  For the app vision even more complex, please read this article if you are interested to know.

Suggestion & Solution

My suggestion is to change the little box icon to a  filter icon that makes more sense to users

The Problem

According to Google difintion professional experience required entry-level jobs is between 2 or 3 years. The LinkedIn filter has a problem, when users are searching for "Entry Level" Jobs, but the results may not be Entry Level. here are the examples.

Suggestion & Solution

When the company is posting an entry-level job ad, the system should be able to detect the years of experience and whether it matches the job level. for example, if the company is looking for an entry-level candidate, the description says 6 years of experience, the system should tell the person that "The years of experience you enter don't match entry-level".
